“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out…” Hebrews 11:8 – The Holy Bible NKJV
Have you ever left a place of comfort for a place of challenge? Well, that’s exactly what we did in taking this step of faith. We left comfortable Lynchburg, Virginia and our comfortable life down there–including my comfortable job in ministry and moved into an arena–a coliseum really. I don’t see many gladiators around me, just a handful, but there sure are a lot of beasts, as Paul talks about in 1st Corinthians 15:32. It’s interesting that the verse before that says that, “I die daily”.
Death is the only thing that can truly bring life–the abundant life in Christ; death to self. We have only taken one small step on that journey of death-to-self. Death to our comfortable life has really blessed us and helped us tremendously. We are beginning to see now how much growing we need to do. We have been growing over the years, but this is like going through a very uncomfortable growing spurt; surely you remember those middle school years.
God is so mighty and gracious and has helped us every step of the way. Praise be to God for His wonderful works to men! We are still in the arena of faith and fighting, but we would have it no other way. Alex V. and Jonathan & Tiffany are all here too–fellow gladiators and we are so blessed to be part of the good fight of faith in this area of spiritual darkness in Worcester, Massachusetts.
We all sense that prayer for us is absolutely crucial and God has been so faithful to answer the prayers of the saints! We pray you will continue to go to battle on your knees. As Hudson Taylor once said to Jonathan Goforth, “If you would advance, then go forward on your knees!”
